Tom Stevenson has been writing about wine—particularly Champagne and Alsace—for more than 30 years. He is the winner of 32 literary awards, including The Wine Literary Award, America’s only lifetime- achievement award for wine writers. His Christie’s World Encyclopedia of Champagne & Sparkling Wine made history by being the only wine book to warrant a leader in a national newspaper (The Guardian) when it published a 17th-century document proving beyond doubt that the English used a second fermentation to convert still wine into sparkling at least six years before Dom Pérignon set foot in the Abbey of Hautvillers. Tom also conceived the acclaimed Wine Report.
